One hundred businesses and individuals from across the State vied for top honours at the prestigious awards which were held at Crown Palladium on 16 November. “Spirits High was judged the best in their field and I applaud them for going the extra mile to deliver memorable visitor experiences. The Victorian Government is proud to recognise the achievements of all those who have worked so hard to make Victoria a world-class tourism destination. While most other parts of Australia have seen a downturn in tourism, Victoria is showing resilience in the face of the Global Financial Crisis and the devastating Black Saturday bushfires”, Tourism Minister, Mr Holding said. Mr Holding explained that tourism was vital to Victoria‟s economy, contributing $15.8 billion and providing jobs for 185,000 people. “ Spirits High is a unique rural massage and wellness centre set against the scenic backdrop of Victoria‟s High Country. Entering the awards was the perfect way to review our business and vision, but primarily it reinspired us to keep going, after a challenging time for new business,” said Cathy Stoney, proprietor of Spirits High.
